Why is The Red Balloon a Good Choice?
Supportive Inspiring Staff
Come meet our warm and experienced teachers and you will instantly sense their dedication to each child and family. Our teachers plant the seeds for a lifetime of learning by providing an integrated play-based curriculum that encourages curiosity, problem solving and critical thinking. On any given day, you might encounter children acting out a story, experimenting with unique sensory materials, or passionately exploring a new topic of interest. We also offer off-site trips, special guest artists, social-emotional guidance and classes in music/movement and yoga. Our director and staff also partner with our families and guide them in finding the best ongoing schools.
No need to worry about after-school coverage, summer plans, or too little time for deep exploration. Our school is ideal for families looking for extended learning hours and a twelve-month program. Children have plenty of time to form close friendships, explore many learning goals, and delight in seasonal activities in this long-day, year-round program.
We have much more space than most NYC preschools, including: large sunny classrooms, a 2,000 square-foot indoor gym, a 3,000 square-foot outdoor play deck, four large planters for gardening, a library with tables and chairs and thousands of books, and even a built-in wading pool.
Hot Balanced Lunch, Healthy Breakfast and Delicious Snacks
Our on-site chef makes delicious, healthy food and receives many compliments from even the pickiest eaters! With breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack our children consume 50%-70% of their daily calories at our school and we make certain they are nutritional calories. We also have an outdoor planter garden where the children plant their own fruits and vegetables and watch how food can grow in nature.
For over 40 years we have been committed to social and economic diversity & actively recruit families from diverse backgrounds. We provide over $100,000 annually in scholarships to 38% of our population. 88% of these families are of diverse backgrounds, low income, or families of color.
